Description Of Work
The Electrician II position is a journey-level role focused on the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Working independently under general supervision, Electrician IIs perform tasks according to accepted trade practices, with complex assignments typically accompanied by blueprints or sketches. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing or replacing wiring, electrical devices, medical equipment, and machinery, as well as installing new circuits and entertainment equipment. Preventive maintenance is regularly conducted to ensure continued functionality and safety of systems. Electrician IIs must follow all safety and health protocols, including proper lifting techniques, use of protective gear, and compliance with infection control guidelines. All incidents must be reported immediately, and additional duties may be assigned to support the effective management of Caswell Center and the well-being of its clients. Work is evaluated through inspections and ongoing system performance.

Recruitment Range: $39, $69,426.00

  • Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus,
a
newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is
not
eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Considerable knowledge of standard practices and methods in the electrical trade, along with strong skills in the proper use and maintenance of trade tools.
  • Proficient in identifying and correcting defects in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings allows me to work accurately and efficiently.
  • Follow both oral and written instructions with precision and have experience training others in the electrical trade.
  • A valid North Carolina driver's license is required.
