Salary: $24.66 - $31.50 Hourly Location : 450 Roundhouse Court, Baraboo, WI Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 2026-14 Department: PUBLIC WORKS Division: STREET Opening Date: 05/12/2026 Closing Date: 6/12/2026 12:00 PM Central General Purpose The City of Baraboo seeks a Licensed Semi Skilled Crewperson within the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position. Additional hours may be required during inclement weather or on an "as needed" basis. Typical duties include the performance of physical labor related to tree removal/brush trimming, asphalt and concrete repairs, snowplowing and removal, general maintenance related to Streets/Parks/Utilities, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement, and experience with Public Works related hand tools and heavy equipment operation. Applicants must have the ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted, and be able to work independently or as part of a team. The pay range for this position is $24.66 to $31.50. Supervision: Under direction of the Street Superintendent Hours: Shift start time will vary based on task scheduling and urgency of response Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities 1. Safe and effective use of tools and materials used in day-to-day operations. 2. Crack fill streets. 3. Repair potholes. 4. Brush and tree cutting.
5. Leaf collection and mowing. 6. Asphalt and/or concrete repair projects. 7. Snow plowing and salting. 8. Snow removal. 9. Maintain traffic signs and pavement markings
10. Repairs and maintenance of Stormwater Utility infrastructure. 11. Repairs and maintenance of Sanitary Sewer infrastructure. 12. Wash and clean assigned equipment - inside and out. 13. Observe safety precautions to prevent accidents. 14. Follow all guidelines and policies as established by the City of Baraboo. Peripheral Duties:
Daily maintenance of assigned equipment and tools. Upkeep of buildings and grounds. Obey all City of Baraboo policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or a combination of education and experience equal to a high school graduation. Minimum of two years' experience in the Public Works field preferred. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 2. Establish and maintain effective relationships with fellow employees and the public. 3. Skilled in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and a variety of vehicles used routinely in the performance of such operations as street maintenance, tree trimming and removal, snow plowing, street cleaning, etc. Certification and Licenses: 1. Possession of a valid Class B Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement, with a Class A preference. 2. Possess a good driving record. Supplemental**POSSESSION OF CLASS B CDL WITH AIR BRAKE ENDORSEMENT IS REQUIRED.** Good driving record.Tools and Equipment Used: Field equipment used in Public Works operations. Equipment varies by task assigned. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may require occasional physical exertion. Frequently interacts with customers, employees, and contractors via verbal and written communication. May be required to assist in the actual performance of maintenance or construction work in emergency situations. The employee must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions. This position involves periodic entry into confined spaces, trenches, and excavations. Work Environment: Work alone or in a group under all types of adverse weather conditions and can be called to work on a 24/7 basis.

Vacation/Paid Time Off (PTO) Schedule: One (1) Year of Service Seven (7) Days Two (2) Years of Service Fourteen (14) Days Five (5) Years of Service Twenty-one (21) Days Twenty (20) Years of Service Twenty-four (24) Days Twenty-Five (25) Years of Service Twenty-Five (25) Days Retirement Fund: All employees eligible under the State of Wisconsin Retirement System will be participants in the Wisconsin Retirement Fund. The City and the employee shall make such contribution to the WRS as may be required by law. Health Insurance: All employees eligible under the State of Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) are eligible to participate in the City's Health Insurance Program. The City and the employee shall share contributions for this benefit. Life Insurance: All employees eligible under the State of Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) may elect to participate in the State of Wisconsin Group Life Insurance Program. The City and the employee shall share contributions for this benefit. Income Continuation Insurance: The City provides each eligible employee with Income Continuation Insurance through the Wisconsin Public Employers' Group Income Continuation Insurance Program to protect the income of City employees during short or long periods of disability. Sick Leave: One day of sick leave per month (12 per year) will be granted to all eligible employees at their prevailing wage rate based on an eight (8) hour day.
