Join our dynamic team as a Small Engine Mechanic at Ladysmith Ace Hardware and become a vital part of keeping outdoor power equipment, small engines, and related machinery running smoothly! This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of equipment, from push lawnmowers to riding lawn mowers and everything in between. *Duties*
* Diagnose issues accurately using schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to identify faulty components or systems.
* Perform repairs and maintenance on small engines, including lawn equipment, generators, and other outdoor power tools, ensuring optimal performance.
* Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and heavy lifting techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
* Inspect equipment for wear and tear; replace or repair parts as needed to extend lifespan and improve reliability.
* Follow detailed service procedures for equipment maintenance and equipment repair, while documenting all work performed.
* Collaborate with customers or team members to explain repairs or recommend maintenance plans that enhance equipment longevity.
* Set up of lawn mowing equipment and other products will also be included in the responsibilities is a part of this role.
* Assisting with other responsibilities with in the Ace Hardware store when needed.
*Skills*
* Proven experience or service technician background working with small engines or outdoor power equipment.
* Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams accurately.
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, soldering skills, and electrical troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures and the ability to perform heavy lifting safely.
* Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with customers about repairs and maintenance needs.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. * Ability to use a computer to help customers from start to finish in the process.
* Training with our product manufacturers will be provided!
