Systems Engineer – CAT Mossville, Illinois Onsite Job Summary CAT is seeking experienced Systems Engineers with strong expertise in requirements management, specification writing, and system-level engineering within the automotive or off-highway industry. Candidates should also have exposure to verification, validation, or testing activities. Key Responsibilities Develop, manage, and maintain system requirements and technical specifications. Perform requirements analysis, traceability, and change management activities. Write detailed system-level specifications and engineering documentation. Collaborate with software, controls, validation, and integration teams. Support system verification, validation, and testing activities. Participate in system architecture discussions and technical reviews. Analyze system issues and support troubleshooting/root cause analysis. Ensure requirements align with customer, functional, and regulatory expectations. Required Skills & Qualifications Minimum 4+ years of experience after completion of Master’s degree. Strong experience in: Requirements management Writing system specifications and technical requirements System engineering processes Experience in automotive or off-highway equipment industry. Exposure to verification, validation, or testing activities. Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work within cross-functional engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or similar requirements management tools. Exposure to embedded systems, controls, or autonomous systems. Understanding of system integration and product lifecycle processes. Experience working within Agile or V-model development environments.
