The Mechanical Fitter will be an integral part of the maintenance team with responsibility for the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance and troubleshooting of generating plant and equipment, helping ensure stations operate to strict efficiency, availability, environmental, and commercial standards. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of mechanical equipment and processes, from valves through to large rotating equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hands-on, technically challenging environment. The role requires an individual who can work autonomously, is flexible, and is a self-starter, with the ability to support other teams and projects as required by station management. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with good practical problem-solving skills and a strong focus on safety. Key Responsibilities Carry out all aspects of hands-on planned and reactive mechanical maintenance in a heavy industrial environment in accordance with site procedures Maintain accurate maintenance records using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Prepare and review task-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments Carry out authorised roles under safety rules as required, including Safe Systems of Work compliance Support safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant and equipment through effective maintenance delivery Work with a range of mechanical systems including rotating equipment, valves, pumps, and associated plant infrastructure Qualifications & Experience Essential 2+ years experience in Thermal, Hydro, Renewable Generation or similar heavy industrial mechanical maintenance environment FAS / SOLAS / Senior Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent Full driving licence Hands-on experience with valves, pumps, gearboxes, and installation/removal of heavy plant equipment Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance procedures in power generation or similar heavy process industries Ability to follow detailed maintenance procedures and technical instructions Strong safety awareness and ability to work effectively within a team environment Competent use of Microsoft Office and general computer systems Desirable Experience and certification in lifting, slinging, and manual handling operations Experience in machining, welding, and workshop-based activities Familiarity with permit to work and safety authorisation systems Previous experience supervising plant staff or contractors
