Diverse and collaborative working environment Affordable and comprehensive benefits package Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD-Microbiology Lab Days-7am-3:30pm Weekend Rotations Required Position Summary:Functions as the principle technical authority in a laboratory section performing non-routine and/or specialized tests and analyses which require the regular application of problem-solving, and/or investigative skills due to their unusually difficult and complex nature. Responsible for planning, implementing documenting training, in-service and continuing educational programs for employees, students, physicians, visiting faculty, and others. Participates in developing and implementing laboratory procedures and techniques and/or the investigation, planning, installation, test/validation of new equipment, laboratory tests or technologies. (Some positions may also focus on technology, clinical software/applications). The Technical Lab Specialist actively performs laboratory duties of common to complex nature; and is expected to work on lab benches as assigned.

A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science and/or equivalent education and training in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology required.
Graduate level coursework in the specialized field of responsibility, preferred. (i.e. S.B.B., M.S., or Ph.D) Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory experience which must include at least 2 years of experience in the given specialty area in order to acquire the necessary familiarity with clinical laboratory policies and procedures in field of specialty. Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
Required certification in Medical Technology, MT (ASCP), or nationally recognized professional organization, approved by the department. (Hires prior to 2011 may have been grandfathered). ***Authorization to Work in the United States: Applicants who require sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered for this position. Salary Range: Minimum 39.56/hour - Maximum 65.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
