Radiographer, CV | Boston Childrens Hospital Position/Department Summary: Performs routine and complex procedures on a scheduled and emergency basis following departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations. Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing and evaluating requisitions for Diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations. Confirming procedure specific information with physician and necessary imaging equipment, software programs, therapeutic equipment and supplies. Selecting appropriate equipment and technical factors to optimize image quality and reduce patient radiation exposure. Complying with aseptic techniques in specimen collection and handling. Preparing procedure tray, imaging parameters, therapeutic equipment and supplies per physician protocol. Circulating room during procedures to assist with retrieving and opening surgical items and equipment. Performing as physician second scrub if required. Testing blood (ACT, blood saturation measurement and blood gases) and ensures daily QC of blood testing. Administering contrast agents. Assisting physicians with image acquisition during rotational angiography and 3D editing. Responsible for the operation of the temporary pacing box/catheter during Cath procedures. Following Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations Practicing High Reliability Communication techniques.
Patient/Family/Team Relations:
Responding to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient. Creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family. Collaborating with team on patient procedure plan by assessing patients' physical and emotional status.
Equipment:
Identifying and reports equipment malfunctions.
General:
Participating in departmental and hospital meetings. Complying with ETU. Practicing BCH 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
Professional Development:
Actively participates in simulation scenarios. Completing all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Furthering professional education and maintaining knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree Required in Allied Health Bachelor's degree preferred in Allied Health/Science
License Required:
MA Radiologic Technologist license
Certification/Registration Required:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)@@BLS certification
Experience:
Technologist with training in Diagnostic Radiology. Consideration given to Catheterization Lab technician experience.
Shift/hours:
Part time 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday including on call weekends
