- Job: The EEG Technologist prepares patients and performs Electroencephalograms (EEG's) as ordered by a physician. - Start Date: ASAP
- Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 32-40 GSA
- Shift Requirements: 8hr shifts, Mon-Fri (7:30am-4:30pm)
- Float Requirements: None - On Call/Call Back Requirements: Rotating call coverage on Friday 4pm to Monday 7:30am, once every 4 weeks
- Weekend Requirements: As needed due to call
- Holiday Requirements: As needed due to call
- Required Certifications: Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (REEGT) (within 2.5 years of hire date) & AHA BLS
- Education: Graduate of an Electroneurodiagnostic or Polysomnographic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Approved ABRET EEG Exam Practice Pathway Track or Associate Degree Track (ABRET : EEG Exam) - Minimum Experience: 6 months experience as an Electroneurodiagnostic Technician or Electrodiagnostic Technician - Charting Experience: Epic preferred - Scrub Color: Any color except those specific to a work group such as Nursing, MA, etc.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Perform and/or assist physician with EEG procedures ensuring accurate and efficient neurodiagnostic evaluation. 2. Obtain a thorough patient history. 3. Provides patient education and overall support/comfort during testing procedures. 4. Works with multidisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate services, provide consultation/education, and generate/print accurate reports for the physicians. 5. Responsible for knowledge and application of skills related to pattern recognition, various medical and pharmacological conditions, and electrical safety. 6. Responsible for maintaining accurate department documentation. 7. Responsible for archiving patient testing and maintaining accurate documentation of archived material and patient schedules. 8. Responsible for achieving and maintaining competency of the departmental American Board of Registered Electroencephalogram and Evoked Potential Technologist (ABRET) accreditation education standard and any mandated organizational employee education. 9. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance. 10. Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients. 11. Ensures patient safety. 12. Other duties, as assigned. Age Specific Population Served: Infant (less than 1 year) Pediatric (1 - 12 years) Adolescent (13 - 17 years) Adult (18 - 64 years) Geriatric (65 years & older) What you will do: • Obtain a thorough patient history. • Perform and/or assist physician with EEG ensuring accurate and efficient neurodiagnostic evaluation. Including such things as EEG for sleep deprived patients, routine EEG's, daytime long-term monitoring, and consults for hospitalized patients • Provides patient education and overall support/comfort during testing procedures.
