About
Operates sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers) Documents and maintains accurate sterilization records Inspects, assembles and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning Performs simple maintenance on equipment (i.e., clean filters and drains) Prepares trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures Ensures count sheets are correct and updated as necessary Prepares and pulls instruments for cases and assist with OR readiness Selects appropriate method of sterilization for equipment or supplies Stocks, manages and documents inventory appropriately to avoid shortages of supplies and materials Maintains strict confidentiality of client information Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional Act as resource; gives advice and instructions to employees; coaches staff on assigned tasks; facilitates problem/issue resolution Act as expert/super user for equipment, technical problems, and for advanced or difficult procedures Monitor daily work assignments Give input/feedback timely to management relative to employee performance and training needs Performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read, communicate effectively and understand medical/surgical terminology Solid knowledge of reusable surgical instrumentation, micro surgical instrumentation, and power equipment Solid knowledge of sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers) Solid knowledge of cleaning patient care equipment including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units Strong knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment Knowledge of SPD equipment, troubleshooting and infectious control practices Strong knowledge of proper equipment usage for accurate uses when pulling instrument for cases Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with HIPAA regulations and state requirements Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner Ability to complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due dates
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED Four (4) years of current experience within the last three years in a healthcare setting SPD Certification from an accredited program Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
