Olsson is seeking an Electrical Technical Expert to join our Data Center team and play a key role in one of the fastest-growing, most exciting sectors in the industry. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of hyperscale and mission‑critical facility design, working on projects that demand innovation, precision, and technical excellence at unprecedented scale and speed. This role is intentionally focused on electrical systems for the data center, the infrastructure that keeps mission‑critical environments running 24/7. We are looking for an expert with deep experience in electrical design, including medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, and high‑reliability system architecture. You will lead and influence the design of electrical systems downstream of the substation, from service entrance through final distribution to IT loads. As a Technical Expert, you will be a go‑to resource across high‑impact projects. Setting technical direction, elevating design quality, mentoring engineers, and helping Olsson continue to lead the industry in data center innovation. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical authority for electrical systems on hyperscale and mission‑critical data center projects. Shape and influence medium and low-voltage power distribution strategies, including campus distribution, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, STS, and emergency power systems. Develop and guide electrical system architectures that support reliability, scalability, maintainability, and uptime requirements. Establish and support electrical design standards, basis of design narratives, and best practices across the data center practice. Lead and perform technical QA/QC reviews, ensuring designs meet the highest standards for constructability, performance, and code compliance (NEC, NFPA, IEEE). Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to align technical solutions with operational goals and redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N). Support commissioning and field efforts by resolving complex technical challenges and system interactions. Mentor and develop engineers, elevating technical capability across teams through guidance, review, and knowledge sharing. Stay at the forefront of emerging data center technologies, power distribution trends, and mission‑critical design innovations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license. 12+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on data center or mission critical facility design. Demonstrated expertise in medium- and low-voltage systems within buildings, including redundancy strategies, power quality, and maintainability. Proven ability to lead complex technical efforts and serve as a trusted advisor to project teams and clients. Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly translate complex technical concepts. A passion for technical excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, skills, education, and internal equity. $150,000 - $236,000 USD Additional Information
