Description Lockheed Martin is seeking a full‑time Software Architect to support USSTRATCOM’s Strategic Mission Planning and Execution System (SMPES) in a DevSecOps environment. The role involves designing modern web‑based, Java mission systems for the nuclear community and collaborating with government engineers to meet stringent security and performance requirements.
The Work The successful candidate will work with Agile Scrum teams, prioritizing cybersecurity, reliability, and performance. Responsibilities include creating system‑to‑system interface designs using REST, Kafka, and relational databases; documenting architectures that guide developers; and pathfinding new patterns for Agile teams.
Who You Are Expertise in software architecture for mission‑critical systems, experience in a DevSecOps cadence, and a strong background in Cybersecurity risk evaluation. Ability to brief design solutions to stakeholders at various technical levels.
Basic Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent STEM field.
Experience designing system‑to‑system interfaces using REST, Kafka, and databases.
Experience briefing design solutions to stakeholders at various technical levels.
Experience coding Java and Web‑based systems.
Must be a U.S. Citizen; this position requires a government security clearance.
Desired Skills
Agile experience using Atlassian tools.
USSTRATCOM mission insight (Intel, Planning, or C2).
Cybersecurity insights and experience evaluating vulnerabilities, threats, and risks.
Experience with large‑scale, complex software‑based systems.
Engineering experience with AFNWC SMPES, MPAS, NPES systems.
Security Clearance Top Secret clearance required.
Employment Details • Full‑time, on‑site at a designated Lockheed Martin facility • Work schedule: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week • Shift: First
