As a Speech Language Pathologist in Toledo, a city known for its diverse community and rich culture, you will not just address communication and swallowing disorders; you will unlock potential, rebuild confidence, and foster connections across all ages - from infants taking their initial steps in speech to seniors rediscovering their independence. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to engage with a wide variety of clients through a blend of outpatient therapy and occasional inpatient care, perfect for those passionate about working with children, adults facing neurogenic disorders, and elderly patients with cognitive challenges. Description
Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric groups using both standardized assessments and observational methods. Create tailored treatment plans that cater to immediate goals alongside long-term communication, cognitive, and swallowing objectives. Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions focusing on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing issues. Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians to develop and implement cohesive care strategies. Provide extensive educational resources to patients and families to assist in their progress outside of therapy sessions. Participate in occasional inpatient assessments and interventions, ensuring a seamless transition through the continuum of care. Maintain precise and timely documentation in accordance with state, federal, and organizational standards. Engage in continuous professional development by keeping up with the latest advancements in the speech-language pathology field. Education
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you are not yet ASHA-certified. Certifications
Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first month of employment. Skills
Expertise in implementing evidence-based treatment modalities for all age groups with profound insight into developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Strong communication abilities to engage effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams. Competence in modifying therapeutic techniques to respect diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Excellent clinical judgment and ability to tackle challenges creatively. Familiarity with electronic medical records and associated documentation practices. Benefits
Attractive compensation package reflective of experience. Flexible scheduling that promotes a healthy work-life balance along with varied caseloads. Options to specialize in areas such as pediatrics, neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care. Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay. Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans. Opportunities for continuing education reimbursement and robust professional growth support. A collaborative environment that values team-based approaches to quality care and ongoing learning.
A Role That Elevates Your Professional Journey In this position, you won't simply provide therapy - you will become part of a heartfelt mission to restore voices, enhance communication, and create joyful moments through one of the most fundamental human interactions: the ability to understand and be understood. Join a team of professionals who treat each other like family, fostering a culture of collaboration rather than competition. Every client has a unique story to tell, and we trust you to help narrate it. Why You'll Adore Living and Working Here Toledo, nestled along the shores of Lake Erie, is a city where urban vibes meet beautiful waterside relaxation. Here, you will experience a blend of cultural richness and natural beauty that makes everyday living a pleasure. With its excellent parks, vibrant arts scene, and close-knit community feel, Toledo is an ideal backdrop for both your personal and professional life. Families enjoy weekend outings to the local zoo, art museums, and the beautiful waterfront, making it a fantastic place to connect with loved ones and embrace community spirit. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ample fishing, hiking, and bird-watching opportunities at the many nearby nature reserves and parks, creating a perfect balance between invigorating adventure and serene locales. This area's arts scene is nothing short of splendid, with galleries and theaters that embrace creative vision, alongside a culinary fare that showcases everything from comforting diners to gourmet dining experiences. The relatively low cost of living and absence of state income tax means that your paycheck goes further, allowing you to thrive in both your career and quality of life. Whether you're just stepping into your profession or are a seasoned expert looking for a fresh adventure, Toledo offers the ideal environment for both personal growth and newfound opportunities. Our Ideal Candidate We're on the hunt for a Speech Language Pathologist who is guided not just by professional outcomes but by genuine compassion. Someone who sees the potential in a child's first attempt to communicate, who perceives a stroke survivor's endeavor to find words as a testament to resilience. Maybe you specialize in pediatric therapy and are eager to broaden your impact into adult rehabilitation - or you're an expert in neurogenic disorders ready to integrate early intervention practices into your work. If you are prepared to lead with heart and serve with skill, we can't wait to have you join our team. Let's Connect Through Communication If you view speech as a profound connection beyond mere sounds, and if you believe that therapy transcends tasks - if you prioritize building trust alongside setting goals, and view laughter as essential as language - then this may be the next significant chapter in your professional narrative. Join us in a community that honors the power of communication, the importance of connections, and the bravery it takes to begin anew. Apply today to lend your voice to our team and assist others in discovering their own.
