Diagnose and manage acute and chronic respiratory illnesses, such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer Interpret and perform pulmonary procedures, such as bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, and pulmonary function tests Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care, including consultative services for other physicians and specialty input for complex cases Manage and monitor patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support Participate in sleep disorder evaluations and management (if qualified in sleep medicine) Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests as related to pulmonary disease Educate Veterans and their families about respiratory diseases, treatment options, and preventive measures Mentor medical trainees (where applicable) Adherence to VA policies and procedures regarding documentation, patient safety, and utilization Completes all medical records (including discharge summaries) in accordance with Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Medical Staff
