Key Responsibilities: Essential Functions
Reviews patient's orders to verify the study has been appropriately ordered, is alert for contraindications or suspected pathologies; verifies type of exam to be performed, ensures completion of other diagnostic exams or medications will not interfere with study, determines appropriate sequence of procedures, and ensures proper patient identification throughout procedure. Assists patients in assuming correct anatomical positions for display of body areas to be studied and apply supportive or immobilization devices, as necessary.
Monitors and attends to patient comfort while in the Radiology department. Selects and prepares appropriate contrast media by procedural standards and documents quality control and dosages, as necessary.
Performs quality control checks on all equipment and maintains appropriate records. Selects appropriate technical and film parameters to produce desired image quality.
Preventives, maintains, troubleshoots malfunctions, and reports equipment failure. Maintains imaging room in a neat and orderly manner, ensuring discarded materials are disposed of in appropriate waste containers according to protocol.
Remains current in knowledge of, and adheres to, standards of radiation safety. Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instruction.
Assumes personal responsibility for on-going continuing education and professional development.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics, mathematics, as well as radiology technology at a level normally acquired through completion of an associate degree in Radiology Technology.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when arranging equipment, preparing media, calibrating, and operating equipment, and so forth. Ability to stand up and walk for majority of work time and lift and position patients. Occasional exposure to infectious specimens, radiation, or other hazardous materials, but potential for personal harm or injury is limited when proper safety and infection control precautions are followed.
Always maintains patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines. Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his/her level of understanding. Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others.

RequirementsQualifications for Success: Education, License/Certification, and Experience Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree and/or Bachelor's Degree in Radiology required.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Registered in Computed Tomography required. RT(R)(CT)(ARRT) certifications required. Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience. • Knowledge of general health care practices, office workflows, and medical terminology. • Ability to identify emergent medical situations. • Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced, time-sensitive work environment. • Strong working medical knowledge of the clinical needs and disease processes for the chronically ill population. • Excellent telephone, oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work autonomously and be directly accountable for assignments. • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office and EMR experience. • Capable of managing several tasks simultaneously.
