Position Overview This role is within a management consulting firm focused on
private equity-backed portfolio companies , delivering rapid operational improvements, margin expansion, and turnaround execution across manufacturing and industrial businesses in North America and Europe.
The position functions as an
Operations Engagement Manager , responsible for
leading client engagements end-to-end , managing both the client relationship and a team of consultants to deliver measurable performance outcomes.
The environment is highly execution-driven, with a focus on
hands‑on implementation within client operations , not strategy alone. Engagements are fast‑paced, high‑impact, and tied directly to EBITDA improvement, operational efficiency, and enterprise value creation.
Role Summary The Operations Engagement Manager is accountable for:
Owning day‑to‑day client relationships within private equity portfolio companies
Leading and developing a team of consultants across multiple workstreams
Structuring and driving operational transformation initiatives from diagnosis through implementation
Delivering quantifiable results (cost reduction, throughput improvement, working capital optimization)
This role operates as the
primary execution leader on‑site , bridging executive stakeholders, frontline operators, and internal consulting teams.

who can independently structure complex problems, lead teams, and drive change within demanding client environments.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders (Plant Managers, COOs, Operating Partners)
Lead performance cadences, steering meetings, and executive updates
Navigate organizational dynamics to ensure alignment and execution
Manage and develop a team of consultants across multiple workstreams
Define workplans, delegate responsibilities, and ensure quality of output
Coach team members on structured problem solving and client delivery
Engagement Execution
Lead on‑site operational transformation initiatives within manufacturing environments
Own value creation levers tied to cost, productivity, and EBITDA improvement
Translate analysis into practical, executable solutions
Problem Solving & Delivery
Structure complex operational challenges into clear workstreams and hypotheses
Guide data analysis, validate insights, and drive decision‑makingEnsure recommendations are implemented and sustained within the operation
Private Equity Alignment
Support due diligence, operational assessments, and performance improvement initiatives
Align workstreams to investment theses and value creation plans
Deliver results within compressed timelines typical of private equity environments
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in:
Management consulting (operations / performance improvement), OR
High‑performance manufacturing environments with leadership responsibility
3+ years of experience leading teams or managing projects/engagements
Demonstrated experience in:
Client‑facing roles
Driving measurable operational improvements
Leading cross‑functional initiatives
Bachelor’s degree required (STEM, Operations, or Business preferred)
Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
Willingness to travel up to 80% and work on‑site at client locations
Preferred Background
Experience with private equity‑backed companies or turnaround environments
Hands‑on experience with:
Value Stream Mapping and Visual Management systems
Prior experience in operational consulting or performance improvement roles
