This role focuses on the delivery of data center fit-out and retrofit projects, managing the installation of MEP and mission-critical infrastructure, including generators, ATS, switchgear, mechanical systems, and DC build-out. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing mission‑critical fit‑out work in owner-side roles, with the judgment to anticipate issues, drive accountability, and represent Qcells’ interests across all phases of project delivery.
The Senior Mission Critical Project Manager will partner closely with engineering, power systems, program management, and vendor execution teams to ensure sites are delivered to specification, on time, and at portfolio scale.
RESPONSIBILITIES Owner’s Representation & Project Oversight
Serve as Qcells’ owner representative on data center fit‑out and retrofit projects, maintaining on‑site presence at active sites
Oversee engineering partners, EPCs, and contractors to ensure work is performed to specification, on schedule, and within budget
Attend coordination meetings, OAC sessions, and site walks to monitor progress and surface issues early
Mitigate change orders and protect project interests through proactive risk identification and resolution
Project Execution & Delivery
Lead end‑to‑end project execution across multiple concurrent data center sites, from design coordination through installation, integration, commissioning, and closeout
Own project schedules, budgets, and milestones; track progress against plan and drive corrective action when needed
Manage scope, contract administration, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
Coordinate constructability reviews, value engineering, and design coordination with engineering teams and contractors
Technical Execution Oversight
Oversee installation of MEP and mission‑critical infrastructure, including generators, ATS, switchgear, mechanical systems, and DC electrical distribution
Validate that technical aspects of installation, including MEP, power systems, and critical environment requirements, are executed to specification
Partner with internal engineering and power systems teams to resolve technical issues in the field
Oversee commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities to ensure sites are delivered ready for operation
Maintain quality control across site execution, identifying and escalating deviations from design intent
Cost, Schedule & Risk Management
Track project costs, schedule, and change order impact across assigned sites
Maintain project schedules and drive corrective action when needed
Identify and manage project risks across safety, cost, schedule, and quality
Report project status, key metrics, and risks to internal leadership on a regular cadence
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal engineering, power systems, program management, and deployment teams to maintain delivery alignment
Coordinate with Qcells’ program management function to ensure individual project execution rolls up to portfolio‑level delivery visibility
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure sites meet operational, reliability, and performance goals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of project management experience in construction, infrastructure, or mission‑critical facilities, with demonstrated exposure to data center, retrofit, or fit‑out work
Strong working knowledge of mission‑critical MEP and electrical systems, including generators, ATS, switchgear, and DC electrical distribution, along with commissioning processes and critical environment protocols
Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, contract administration, and risk on complex infrastructure projects
Experience coordinating with general contractors, engineering consultants, and vendor execution partners
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work effectively across internal and external stakeholders
Travel may be required up to 50%, depending on business needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience serving as an owner’s representative or in an owner‑side project management role
Experience delivering data center fit‑out, brownfield conversion, or colocation retrofit projects
Experience with supporting power infrastructure including BESS, solar, generators, or utility interconnection
Experience delivering hyperscale, colocation, or mission‑critical data center projects
PMP, CCM, or equivalent project management certification
Familiarity with construction project scheduling and document collaboration tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Bluebeam)
Experience with fast‑track delivery and owner‑side risk management on capital projects
The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
