Job Title General Counsel (Remote)
Reporting Line CEO
We are seeking an experienced and business‑oriented
General Counsel
to serve as the company’s primary legal advisor, with a strong focus on
corporate law, commercial contracts, and risk management
across a growing international organization. The General Counsel will partner closely with executive leadership to support strategic growth while ensuring legal compliance and sound risk management across U.S. and international operations. This role will also serve as the central point of coordination for external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe and other international markets where the company operates. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited for a pragmatic legal advisor who can balance commercial objectives with thoughtful risk mitigation in a fast‑moving business environment.
Key Responsibilities Corporate
Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with business objectives and organizational growth.
Advise leadership on legal implications of strategic initiatives, partnerships, acquisitions, and operational changes.
Commercial Contracts
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, distribution, licensing, technology, and services contracts.
Establish scalable contract standards, templates, and approval processes to support global operations.
Partner with business leaders to enable commercial outcomes while managing contractual risk.
Global Legal Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact and coordinator for external counsel across international jurisdictions.
Ensure alignment and consistency in legal guidance across countries while accounting for local regulatory requirements.
Support international expansion efforts, entity set‑up, and cross‑border operational matters.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. federal and state laws and relevant international regulations impacting operations, data, employment, and supply chains.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate implications into actionable business guidance.
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the organization.
Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and Operations to maintain compliant policies and practices.
Litigation & External Counsel Management
Oversee litigation strategy and manage relationships with outside counsel.
Evaluate disputes and claims, providing practical guidance on resolution strategies.
Manage legal spend and optimize use of external legal resources.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
10+ years of legal experience, including significant corporate and commercial law experience (in‑house experience strongly preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, commercial contracting, and regulatory compliance.
Experience supporting international or multi‑jurisdictional operations.
Strong business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and advise executive leadership.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in distribution, e‑commerce, consumer products, or global operating environments.
Prior experience building or scaling a legal function in a growing organization.
Familiarity with international employment, privacy, and commercial regulatory frameworks.
